Overview

Endometrial carcinoma arises from the endometrium, the inner lining of the uterus crucial for pregnancy. Not to be confused with endometriosis, a separate condition involving the presence of endometrial-like tissue outside the uterus, endometrial carcinoma is a malignancy within the uterus itself. Endometriosis, while sharing a similar name, involves abnormal tissue growth and can cause pain and fertility issues but is distinct from cancer. Endometrial carcinoma, on the other hand, is a form of uterine cancer that typically affects postmenopausal women. Risk factors include hormonal imbalances and obesity.
